OUR PROMISE
We developed this app because we live in one of the harshest corners of Iceland – in 2016 a storm literally blew the road away in front of our farm. And we use it every day, so we are working hard to make the app as usable as we can: a clean interface with all important information at a glance, and no ads, subscriptions, or in-app purchases to unlock essential features. Instead, a single low price will keep our lights on and the updates coming.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This app requires internet access. To make optimal use of background updates, we recommend either purchasing a pre-paid Icelandic SIM card or making sure roaming charges are reasonable. Alternatively, many rental vehicles can be ordered with in-car WiFi. The download volume is very small (a few tens of kilobytes per update), but still.
Weather and road information is provided “as is” from automatic stations and may contain measurement or transmission errors or out of date information. This app should be only one of many sources of information when making decisions about travel conditions and safety.
PRIVACY
The app only requests background activity and access to your location to fetch updates and to detect and notify you if you are in the vicinity of weather stations that are reporting difficult or dangerous driving conditions. It does not “phone home” with any information, and all processing is done locally on your device.
